The cathedral locates at No.95 Tou Long Street. Dao Li
District and belongs to First Class Preserved Building.
Originally built in 1907, it was firstly a wooden structure
cathedral used by the army. In 1923, it was reconstructed
to meet the need of the increasing number of Orthodox Eastern
believers. The construction lasted for nine years and finished
in 1932. It became the largest wooden structure cathedral
in the Far-Eastern area. Deeply influenced by Byzantine
architectural features, the building owns Russian style
domes、Rome type arch high windows and many kinds of combinations
of architectural arts. Especially after the reconstruction
in 1997, it became a bright spot in the architectural scenery
of Harbin. When dusk comes, the setting sun reflects on
the domes. Viewing the cloud like flocks of pigeons、listening
to flowing water like music and strolling through the Sophia
Square ,you can not help feeling relaxed and happy. Now
the church has become Harbin Architectural Art Gallery.
